Awaken Sleeping Beauty Retold Romance a Medieval Fairytale Book 6 eBook Demelza Carlton
I enjoyed this adaptation of Sleeping Beauty. Heroine is a queen that had a gift to heal but afterwards losses strength and goes into a deep sleep to heal herself. This book takes over span 50 years, counting the time she was asleep for said 50 years, after healing three and herself from the plague. It was a safe read. It was not clean read but nothing to graphic. I would recommendPossible Spoilers --- Thanks
Even though I did enjoy it I toke point off as heroine was enamored with her bodyguard at first but when she woke up 50 years later mistakens his granson for him and carries a relationship with him thinking he was another man, they looked the same, before misunderstanding was cleared. It was part storyline but still took me sometime to look past this. But I see she did not love bodyguard but was more enamored with his skills and him protecting her with his life. He is very professional and does sway from temptation she throws at him. His grandson, who happens to have greater power, is another thing; ) I felt hero, grandson, did love her and heroine would grow to love him. She was enomoraded with a knight protecting her and well he did at the end. Good book overall.

Awaken Sleeping Beauty Retold Romance a Medieval Fairytale Book 6 eBook Demelza Carlton Reviews
Awaken Sleeping Beauty Retold - Wonderful Story Teller. Another delightful fairy tale. Well written and edited. I’m looking forward to read all of Ms. Carlton’s writings, since the few works I’ve read so far have not disappointed me once.
Enchant Beauty and the Beast Retold - Interesting writer. What a fun, interesting spin on an old classic. (I do hope the old classics still remain as favorites, while the new versions join the ranks of beloved tales.) I really enjoy reading Ms. Carlton’s writing, she is great.
Dance Cinderella Retold - Wonderful story teller. A wonderful, delightful read. I know this will be a successful fairy tale for the future. I hope the classic fairy tales will still be loved in the future, too. I can’t say enough about Ms. Carlton’s storytelling. Every book I’ve read by her has been tops.
Revel Twelve Dancing Princesses Retold - A magical, breathtaking story. A well written, exciting story with filled several wonderful, and several disgusting, characters. I couldn't put the book down, it read like a thriller. Another great read from this author. No vulgar/mild cursing.
Silence Little Mermaid Retold - Another wonderful fairy tale. Must read Revel first, which tells more of the twelve brothers that are mentioned here, and the secret of the island. But, if you can't don't fret, this story is still great on its own. I've read all of the fairy tales by this author and each time she has done a wonderful job. Her versions will be just as popular as the old classics most of us grew up reading.
Embellish Brave Little Tailor Retold - This one is just as good as the others. Filled with fun, adventure and adversity. A well written, fast paced, humorous fairy tale with twists. The characters are fun and the plot just carries you along until the story ends. Some of the characters have appeared in her other fairytales. Ms. Carlton has yet to disappoint me with her work. A natural storyteller. I look forward to every book she writes.
Description This is a Medieval Romance, a twist on a Fairy-Tale based on Sleeping Beauty. It features royal living, medieval tournaments, magic, conspiracy, and of course passion and romance. The story follows sleeping beauty, Princess Rosamond, who goes from being a carefree young lady to a woman on a mission when a magical curse changes her life and her kingdom forever. Read it to see how she gets her fairy tale Prince and happy ending.
In Short This book has potential and I think there are many readers who would love it but for me it had some issues. If you like sweet medieval romances and fairy tales retold you should check this series out, as long as you don't mind some plot holes. Overall, I thought it was entertaining and I was completely sucked into the story and the characters until the end.
Pros This is a cute story and overall the book was fun to read. I really enjoyed the beginning of the story it was action packed and exciting and drew me in right away. I was able to easily devour it in one sitting. There was some good depth to this book and the plot takes some surprising twists and turns. I enjoyed the Princess's powers. The way she could heal people and control plants was very interesting and well implemented. For the most part I actually really liked the protagonist's character. She is a princess and a spoiled one but also a very strong and admirable character. She consistently acts with arrogance and entitlement but she also manages to be a very sympathetic character who can be incredibly caring and she proves she is willing to sacrifice herself for others.
Cons There are some grammar and spelling errors that could be corrected with basic copyediting, it wasn't too distracting. There were some holes in this story and in the characters I'll try to describe them without spoilers. For example Rosamond claims she never wants to get married and then suddenly she wants to marry someone, and she's demanding sex and disrobing all willy-nilly. I could not suspend disbelief at the very unlikely sex scene. I didn't really care for the ending. I didn't think the coronations were fair as far as gender equality is concerned. The king received a grand reception and the queen - not so much. But maybe she created that situation for herself. And I didn't understand why the matter that needed to be taken care of as soon as she became queen was OK to put off for a year. I also still have no idea exactly who created the curse, who the target of it was, and why. Missed opportunity for a more powerful story because the ending was just too confusing. I also didn't like that there were so many mentions of how the Princess could barely eat anything. I thought it was borderline glamorizing eating disorders and wasn't a good influence to young ladies.
Parent's Guide Sex and innuendo (not very graphic).
This was another cute book in this series. It was an entertaining twist on the sleeping beauty fairy tale. The only little issue I might've had is the heroine's ditzyness at times. Before she got sick, at the tourney still, she was rather naive and innocent. After she had a bit of hero worship for her protector she made her decision on who to marry right then and there.
That is all fine and dandy, but after she got sick I think stewing in her own mind juices messed with her head because she woke up as a mostly different person and well ... you should really read the book to find out what she did after that.
All in all I enjoyed this little fairy tale.
